Work Experience

Network Architect - Amach/Aer Lingus - Contract
April 2024 - Current

Supporting Amach and their end client Aer Lingus during their network transformation journey to a cloud first architecture.

Career Break - Traveling South East Asia
December 2023 - April 2024

Took time out to travel East Asia and visiting 8 different countries learning about new cultures.

Senior Infrastructure Engineer - Davies Group - Contract
June 2023 - November 2023

6 months contract providing Senior Network Engineer and Network SME services. As part of the contract I delivered:

  • The design and implement of a solution to integrate a key US acquisition into the Davies global network.
  • The creations of an automated PowerBi dashboard showing current complaint state for the global network.
  • An audit of existing configuration standard and provided guidance on best practices that were not being followed, security improvements, and scalability issues.

  • Technical Lead Global Network Transformation - The Weir Group
    April 2021 - May 2023

At The Weir Group I worked as the Technical Lead for their Global Network Transformation project

My key achievements from the project are:

  • Led a team of 6 engineers in the delivery of Weir’s global network transformation covering design and implementation of a new SD-WAN and Cloud environment spanning 180 sites, 3 CNX locations and 12 Azure regions globally. Consolidated Weir’s legacy WAN which comprised 13 different regional WAN services to a single standardised Meraki SD-WAN solution removing Network support silos and building a truly single Network Team across all regions and divisions of The Weir Group.

  • Redesigned the Azure networking landing zone to simplify the design while improving the security posture and encompassing IAC to enable self-service by the cloud team. Built out a project delivery pipeline which covered how projects were delivered and handed over into BAU support across the Networking function.

  • Improved visibility of the health of Network services by improving Solarwinds Monitoring and building out new integration between Service-now and the Meraki Platform including auto-ticketing for key events and building out a CMDB to accurately track events to the correct devices.

  • Implemented DevOps principles using Terraform, Python, and Azure DevOps Pipelines to add automation to Network Service provisioning and configuration with the reduction of estate wide changes being made in minutes instead of days and new service provisioning in hours instead of weeks.

  • Design and implemented Azure network services for Weir’s cloud product Synertrex utilising all cloud native products following DevOps principles.

  • Senior Network Engineer - Entain Group (previously Ladbrokes Coral Group)
    Jan 2018 - May 2021

I joined Ladbrokes Coral Group as a Senior Network Build Engineer working within the platform delivery team working on the company’s network transformation project.

My key achievements from the project are:

    • Transformed the company’s ~3500 retail locations in the UK from two fully managed MPLS services to an inhouse Meraki Auto-VPN solution leading to the business having improved service, flexibility and reduction in the time to market of new services to the retail estate.

    • The build out of new POP locations in the UK as the core interconnect between the companies on premise and cloud environments.

    • Lead the Network involvement for the company’s new in-house built EPOS and Self Service Betting Terminal from design to implementation.

Network Engineer - Raymond James Investment Services
    July 2017 - Dec 2017

During my time at Raymond James I worked as a Network Engineer providing 3rd line support and project implementation for their European network which included Security, WAN and Data Centre services.

My key achievements from the project are:

    • Implemented various security recommendations for spoke locations to reduce risk of non-company devices connecting to the network.

    • Proposed routing changes to resolve long standing performance issues when the region’s primary circuit into the company’s core WAN was down.

    • Improved Solarwinds setup to include daily reporting, automated configuration backup and configuration change comparison.

    Network Analyst - Apache Corporation
    Jun 2011 - June 2017

During my time at Apache North Sea I worked as a Network Analyst providing BAU and Project support for their North Sea Region across Networks, Security, and Telephony.

My key achievements from the project are:

    • Apache's aquisition of Exxon Mobil's North Sea assets focusing on telephony integration.

    • Build out of new greenfield office for 700 Users and on-prmise Data Center.

    • Build out of new DR facility to provide redundancy across all regional services.

    • Divestiture of Apache's mid-stream assets.
